Frequently Asked Questions

1: What will it cost?
2: Will Ortho K work for me?
3: How quickly will it work?
4: Is Ortho K safe?
5: Will I really just sleep and see?
6: How is it possible to wear lenses overnight?

1: What Will It Cost?

Ortho Keratology is an on going vision therapy. The initial fee is £100 which includes:

• Initial fitting using state of the art corneal topography equipment that accurately maps out the exact shape of the cornea
• All appointments and aftercare for the first month
• The first pair of lenses
• Insurance for lost or broken lenses

Then after the first month we will ask you to set up a direct debit for £40. This Includes:

• New lenses every 6 months
• Unlimited professional aftercare appointments
• Insurance for lost or broken lenses

2: Will Ortho K Work For Me?

Ortho K utilizes the tried and tested DreamLite® lens design that has been available in the U.K. since 2002 and currently boasts thousands of happy patients. Ortho K is available to patients with the following degrees of myopia:

• A spherical spectacle prescription of -0.75D to -4.50D
• Astigmatism of up to -1.50D horizontal or -1.00D vertical

As well as being experts in all types of contact lens fittings, our senior optometrists have attended an extensive programme of training with Ortho K in order to be better familiarized with the lens fitting techniques and so are therefore best to advise you of your suitability for the Ortho K system.

3: How Quickly Will It Work?

After the first night most of the necessary correction has been achieved. Normally within a week your sight during the day will be ‘treated’ and you will no longer be reliant on spectacles or contact lenses during the day.

4: Is Ortho K Safe?

YES. Research and experience show that the whole process is 100% reversible. So if you decide to stop wearing Ortho K for whatever reason, the eye will return to its original shape and you will see clearly in glasses again.

This makes Ortho K an excellent alternative to laser eye surgery.

5: Will I Really Just Sleep And See?

YES. Once the effect is complete you simply remove the lenses each morning and see normally. Also – and this is really clever you will be able to see clearly with the lenses in when you wake up in the morning (or in the middle of the night) It really is a clear future 24/7

How Is It Possible?

Ortho K lenses are made of the very highest oxygen permeable materials, Boston XO ™ for maximum safety and comfort during the overnight wear.

The other unique benefit with Ortho K is that unlike conventional lens wear the eye spends it’s waking hours with normal oxygen levels, uninhibited by contact lenses.
